Bragging on God

Sometimes, I just have to brag on God.  Yes, I agree that we should always be telling about the amazing wonders God is doing in our lives and those around us. No argument there.  But, today, I just need to brag a bit more through three recent stories.

A friend of ours is a student here at Liberty and is from India. He hasn’t been back home to see family and friends for over two years.  He told me recently that while he was on a weekend tour with the Liberty worship choir LU Praise, he stayed in a local host home.  While there, the host couple asked him about his background, where he was from, etc.  They asked him when the last time was that he went home to India and he told them.  The next morning, after LU Praise’s performance at their church, the host couple came up to our friend and told him they would like to sponsor his to go home this summer!  God provides!

“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share” (1 Tim. 6:17-18, NIV).

Another student who is an acquaintance of our son Andrew suffered a concussion a couple of months ago.  It was actually his second one.  He was having multiple issues with hearing, eyesight, headaches and concentration problems.  Sometimes, he even had trouble piecing simple sentences together.  Sunday night, at a local worship gathering downtown, he brought his condition before those attending.  They laid hands on him and circled around him to pray for God’s miraculous healing.  After no more than 10 minutes, he called out, “Guys, it’s ALL gone!” He was completed HEALED!

“But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace” (Luke 8:46-48, NIV)

Another student friend of our son’s whom we got to now through Andrew’s involvement in the local Civil Air Patrol squadron was facing a serious challenge at the beginning of the semester. He realized he did not have the money to return to Liberty as a residential student.  Through a missions trip, God had radically transformed his life-path and he was excited to pursue a new career.  He let friends and classmates know about his need on social media. In just five days, he had raised all the money needed to come back to Liberty!  God intervened!

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Cor. 15:57-58, NIV)

Combine these three stories with the revival that’s happening on campus as we see hundreds surrendering their lives to Jesus and many getting baptized – and you have all sorts of reasons to brag on God today!

Find something that God’s doing in your life or in those around you that you can brag on today.
